Amyloidosis V122i, (p.Val142Ile) is under-diagnosed and can be a fatal disease. It requires a heightened awareness to ensure early detection and timely intervention, ultimately saving lives.
This disease disproportionately affects African American community, leading to heart failure and other serious conditions.

Amyloidosis is still classified as a rare disease. However, approximately 1 in 25 African Americans carry the V122i variant, which is predominantly hereditary.
